Episode 011: The Art of Storytelling with Quiana Parks

In this episode of The Colby Report, I had the pleasure of sitting with one of the city’s top tastemakers, Quiana Parks, a fine performing artist. Quiana shares how she views her DJ career as a form of performing arts and recounts her first steps into the creative world as an artist.

She talks about channeling her grief from losing her brother at a young age into drawings of them together, using art as a method of coping and therapy. With the support of her grandmother, her love for art evolved into a passion for fashion illustration.

Quiana discusses how painting continues to serve as therapy and a way to connect with others. We also delve into the challenges of balancing multiple creative passions and how the industry often fails to make space for multidisciplinary artists.
